MAT-1350 Precalculus Part I Credits 3 This course is the first part of a two semester sequence intended as preparation for calculus for students who are majoring in a scientific or technical field. Topics include polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions, circles, and an introduction to right triangle trigonometry and trigonometric functions. Problems are solved through analytical and graphical approaches. Prerequisite(s): Appropriate Math Placement. 3 class/1 recitation hours. Course Outcomes
- Analyze equations and their graphs, including algebraic, exponential, logarithmic and trigonometric functions, and circles.
- Perform operations on expressions and simplify results, including algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric expressions.
- Perform operations on functions and simplify results, including algebraic, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions.
- Solve equations and inequalities and verify solutions, including algebraic, exponential, and logarithmic functions.
- Solve application problems, including quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric applications.
