NUR-2020 Physiological Integrity II

This course is designed to assist students in the theoretical and practical application of the nursing process to meet the health care needs of clients with complex, chronic disorders with multisystem involvement and rehabilitation needs. Physiologic and psychosocial adaptation, prevention and early detection, self-care will be emphasized, with a focus on outcomes management and synthesis of information. Pharmacological concepts will be integrated throughout the course content. Clinical experience will be provided in a variety of supervised healthcare settings.

Course Outcomes
 

  1. Evaluate benefits of rehabilitation as a tertiary prevention strategy for the nursing care of clients with chronic disorders and diseases. 
  2. Analyze the effects of chronic neurologic and neuromuscular disorders on clients and families. 
  3. Evaluate nursing management of clients with chronic kidney disease and cirrhosis of the liver. 
  4. Formulate appropriate nursing care plan for clients with endocrine disorders. 
  5. Establish priorities of care for clients with connective tissue disorders. 
  6. Implement appropriate nursing care to support the cancer client during diagnosis and treatment.
