NUR-2032 Physiological Integrity III

Focuses in depth on the nursing care for clients and families experiencing serious threats to physiological integrity. Students synthesize and integrate knowledge, skills, and abilities to evaluate and modify a plan of care; independently plan, implement, and evaluate the delivery of safe, effective care; facilitate optimal physiological functioning to maximize health outcomes. Clinical experiences will be provided in a variety of specialized acute care settings.

Corequisite(s): NUR-2031 , NUR-2040 .
1.5 lecture/1.5 lab/9 clinical (for 5 weeks) hours.
Course Outcomes

Evaluate nursing management of clients experiencing complex, life threatening alterations in physiological integrity in acute care settings.
Formulate nursing interventions considering principles of client safety, health promotion and maintenance for clients with neurologic disorders.
Formulate nursing interventions considering principles of client safety, health promotion and maintenance for clients with cardiovascular disorders.
Formulate nursing interventions considering principles of client safety, health promotion and maintenance for clients with respiratory disorders.
Establish priorities utilizing the nursing process to manage care of clients with acute multisystem disorders.
Analyze the nurse’s role in management of clients experiencing environmental emergencies and in disaster situations.
