COM-1130 Interviewing



Credits 3
This course explores the theory and practice of interviewing. Students examine the different types of interviews which can be conducted, including their contexts. Consideration is given to the interviewer and the interviewee’s role and expectations, especially regarding their competency and communication skills. The ethical implications of conducting an interview are incorporated into the examination of interviewing. Additionally, students create a professional resume.

Course Outcomes
  1. Recognize the different types and structures of interviews, including the interview context and environment within different disciplines
  2. Define the roles and expectations of both interviewer and interviewee for competency
  3. Evaluate the communication skills of an interviewer and interviewee 
  4. Recognize ethical behavior in both interviewer and interviewee before, during, and after interviews
  5. Create a professional resume
  6. Apply basic theory and practices of interviewing
