NUM-2140 Clinical Nuclear Medicine IV

Clinical experience courses provide the opportunity for students to observe, practice and perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures, as well as participate in a quality assurance program. Clinical courses are directed, competency-based experiences in affiliate health care facilities; licensed and registered technologists (or pharmacists) provide guidance, mentorship and critiques.

This course is the fourth of five clinical education courses. The student will demonstrate an advanced level of critical thinking and the ability to perform advanced tasks. Students will be able to utilize a procedure manual in order to perform non-routine and unfamiliar imaging procedures. Through simulation, students will model the process for administering therapeutic procedures. Finally, the student will demonstrate the ability to respond appropriately to a radioactive spill.

Course Outcomes

Perform non-routine procedures with the use of the department procedure manual.
