ART-2780 Digital Photography II
Credits: 3 In this studio art course, students continue to study digital photographic techniques and concepts. Students develop an expanded understanding of digital photographic processes, compositional strategies, along with editing software. Emphasis is on students’ study and development of a body of work through independent selection of subject matter, exploration of aesthetic, and conceptual possibilities in digital photography. Students expand their abilities to prepare, create, manipulate, edit, and produce finished works for both web and print formats. Students study contemporary digital photographic practices and apply ethical principles related to privacy, security, intellectual property/fair use. Additionally, students articulate formal and conceptual qualities of the artwork using elements and principles of art and design through verbal and written critiques.
Course Outcomes
- Use industry software to manipulate, edit, and format digital photographs at an expanded level
- Critique works of art using formal and conceptual analysis using elements and principles of art and design through verbal and written methods
- Create original photographs using expanded understanding of digital equipment and processing for both web and print formats
- Formulate through personally selected subject matter a clear aesthetic through a body of work
- Investigate contemporary digital photographic practices and current ethical principles related to privacy, security, intellectual property/fair use
