ACC-1002 Principles of Accounting II
Credits: 3 This course is the second course in a university-parallel introductory accounting sequence. This course emphasizes accounting theories, principles and applications with a focus on financial and managerial accounting. Topics include corporate reporting, equities, investments, cash flows, financial statement analysis, costing methods, cost volume profit analysis and budgeting.
Prerequisite(s): ACC-1001 with a grade C or higher.
Formerly: ACC-2002. Students may not receive credit for both ACC-2002 and ACC-1002.
Course Outcomes
- Prepare journal entries for the issuance of stock, treasury stock, job costing and process costing transactions.
- Define cash dividends, stock dividends, and stock splits.
- Prepare an indirect statement of cash flows.
- Analyze financial ratios.
- Evaluate cost, volume, profit relationships.
- Apply managerial costing methods.
- Construct master and subsidiary budgets.
- Report on accounting topics.
- Analyze master and supporting budgets for performance planning.
