MAT-2430 Calculus III
Credits: 4 This course is the third course in a three-semester sequence of university level calculus for a variety of majors including but not limited to engineering, mathematics, and science. Students study analytical geometry and vector valued functions in three-dimensional space. Students also learn differentiation and integration of multivariable functions including applications. Finally, they study topics of vector calculus including line and surface integrals, curl, divergence, Gauss and Stokes theorems and their applications.
Prerequisite(s): Determined by placement methods or completion of MAT-2420 with a grade of C or higher.
Course Outcomes
- Operate with vectors and vector valued functions.
- Use partial derivatives, double and triple integrals and line and surface integrals.
- Utilize the underlying theory in the application of vectors, partial derivatives, gradients and double and triple integrals.
- Apply theorems of Green, Gauss, and Stokes for the solution of physical problems.
