MAS-2040 Professional Seminar



Credits: 1
This course prepares the student for the externship experience, national certification, and graduation. Focus is placed on the traits and behaviors of the professional medical assistant and the importance of credentialing. Standards of oral and written professionalism are highlighted using mock interviews, cover letters, and resumes. Students review general, administrative, and clinical concepts and competencies based on national guidelines for medical assisting graduates.

Prerequisite(s): MAS-2010 MAS-2020 , and MAS-2300  completed or concurrent.

Course Outcomes
  1. Compare and contrast the general competencies required for medical assisting graduates.
  2. Compare and contrast the role of a medical assistant in both the administrative and clinical setting.
  3. Demonstrate professionalism in oral and written communication.
