TRF-1330 Video Production I

This course is an introduction to video production, emphasizing practice in techniques for both studio and basic field production, with practice in student productions. Students learn basic production terminology, camera composition and movements, use of various microphones and audio control, lighting techniques, and graphics in a studio environment. Importance is placed on the duties of each crew position and the importance of teamwork to the overall planning and execution of a production. Additionally, students conduct studio interviews and create demonstration productions.

Course Outcomes

Apply definitions of basic video production terminology to various types of video projects.
Execute basic camera moves and compositions.
Operate a variety of microphones under various conditions.
Execute proper handling of lighting equipment and use of 3-point lighting.
Manipulate video switchers, character generators, intercoms and audio mixers.
Produce a video program, including giving commands to a production crew (camera persons, recorder, technical direction, floor manager, talent, lighting, audio, etc.).
Use various production techniques to create video programs, including interviews and demonstration productions.
Explain the importance of teamwork in a production team to the overall planning and execution of a program.
Explain the responsibilities of various essential production team members, such as the producer, director, crew members, and talent.
