PED-1040 Introduction to Tennis
Credits: 2 This course introduces students to the fundamentals and health benefits of tennis. Students learn the history, rules, terminology and scoring procedures of the sport. Class drills focus on basic stroke techniques and the various grips used in tennis. Students apply these skills and strategies to compete at a beginner’s level.
Course Outcomes
- Discuss the history of the game of tennis.
- Identify health benefits of playing tennis.
- Demonstrate tennis skills including forehand, backhand, serve, volley, lob, overhead, and grips.
- Apply rules and terminology of tennis in scoring.
- Demonstrate game skills and strategies during competitive play.
