Program Description
The Computer Engineering Technology, A.A.S program prepares students for careers in computers, networking and Internet-of-Things (IoT) fields. Students acquire a general background in electronics, software, computers, communication networks, as well as IoT technologies and applications. In addition, students receive specialized training in the assembly, configuration, diagnosis, and repair of personal computers. Students planning to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering Technology or related programs at four-year institutions should work closely with the department and college advisors to meet the requirements of the transfer institution. Students may take courses within this program to prepare for industry certifications from the Computing Technology Industry Association, such as CompTIA A+ certification and CompTIA Network+ certification. Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Computer Engineering Technology, A.A.S. will be able to: - Analyze all types of AC and DC circuits using various methods of circuit analysis.
- Utilize operating systems such as Windows and Linux used on personal computers and servers.
- Design, analyze, and troubleshoot standard digital circuits.
- Create programs for a microprocessor or microcontroller.
- Analyze and troubleshoot computer hardware and software through system organization, data representation, memory management, and interrupts.
- Configure, test, monitor and maintain small- to medium-sized communication networks.
- Install, test, maintain, and secure Internet of Things (IoT) hardware and software components.
- Analyze issues to resolve IoT device or application related problems.
- Provide a well-documented solution for a novel technical problem.

Program Total: 60-61 Credits
Transferability
Credit earned at any public institution in the state shall be transferable to any other institution if the: - Credit is from a college or university parallel course or program;
- Grades in the block of courses transferred average 2.00 or higher; and
- Acceptance of the credit is consistent with the policies of the receiving institution governing students following the same program. Refer to ARTSYS at artweb.usmd.edu and the receiving institution’s catalog to select transferable courses.
