Program Description


The Cloud Technologies Certificate focuses on various cloud services and providers and prepares students for cloud computing careers. Students learn and use technologies offered by the three major cloud providers in the cloud arena: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud. Students utilize AWS curriculum and become part of the AWS Academy which provides internships as well as access to cloud positions. Some of the courses in the program are cross-listed with continuing education.  The courses prepare students for the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification exam and Microsoft Azure Administrator Certification. It also prepares students for CompTIA Network+ and Cloud+ Certification. Students completing this certificate program may apply all these course credits to the Cloud Technologies A.A.S degree and most of the course credits to the Information Technology A.A.S. degree.

Program Outcomes


Graduates of the Cloud Technologies Certificate will be able to:

  1. Administer cloud technologies to include network, storage, and virtualization technologies and security.
  2. Evaluate cloud computing models, providers, and technologies.
  3. Design cloud systems that are reliable, secure, fault-tolerant, and high performing.

Transferability


Credit earned at any public institution in the state shall be transferable to any other institution if the:

  • Credit is from a college or university parallel course or program;
  • Grades in the block of courses transferred average 2.00 or higher; and
  • Acceptance of the credit is consistent with the policies of the receiving institution governing students following the  same program. Refer to ARTSYS at artweb.usmd.edu and the receiving institution’s catalog to select transferable courses.
