PAR-2650 Civil Litigation 3 Credits A survey of the rules regulating civil suits with practical exercises in interviewing clients and witnesses, analyzing documents, and drafting pleadings. Students will develop and prepare an individual research project that will be presented to the class, as well as an external audience. The course also includes a portfolio requirement which documents and demonstrates the student’s attainment of the skills necessary to complete routine tasks assigned to a paralegal from the moment the new client enters the law office. This is the culminating experience for the associate degree in Paralegal Studies. Prerequisite(s): PAR-1510 , PAR-2450 , PAR-2510 , PAR-2530 , and PAR-2540 , or departmental permission. (Formerly PAR-1600. Students cannot receive credit for both PAR-1600 and PAR-2650.) Capstone Course(s): A cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher is required.
