HST-1530 History of African Americans since 1877 3 Credits Surveys African American history from the end of Reconstruction through the present. Particular emphasis is placed on describing and analyzing black Americans’ efforts to counteract the inequalities their communities experienced as a result of Jim Crow laws and racial disenfranchisement. It examines the Great Migration, the Harlem and Chicago Renaissances, Post-World War II integrationist and black Nationalists movements, and black political activism.
