NUR-1010 Introduction to Nursing (RN) 1 Credit This is an introductory course which focuses on preparing the student for the rigorous study required for the clinical nursing courses. The patient-needs framework of the curriculum and nursing process will be discussed. Ethical and legal issues, nursing history and discussion of the health care system will be emphasized. Students are introduced to effective methods of stress management, test-taking skills, and critical thinking concepts. Cultural sensitivity and dosage calculations are among other concepts explored. Prerequisite(s): EGL-1010 , BIO-2050 , MAT-1120 or higher, BIO-2060 and PSY-1010 completed or concurrent. Upon successful completion of NUR-1010, the student may petition for admission to the Nursing Program (RN). 7 weeks: 2 class hours. (Not offered summer.)
