SGT-1030 Surgical Procedures I 4 Credits This course will provide the student with detailed instruction in a variety of subjects related to surgical technology including wound care, aseptic technique, pharmacology, and surgical case management. In order to understand surgical procedures, the student must be able to explore specific clinical conditions, signs, and symptoms leading up to surgery including emergency situations. At the conclusion of SGT-1030, the student will be able to identify anatomy and related pathology for various specialties. Specialties to be covered shall include but are not limited to gynecology, general cases, and diagnostic procedures. Prerequisite(s): HIM-1530 , BIO-2050 , and SGT-1010 with grades of C or higher; BIO-2060 completed or concurrent. 3 lecture/1 lab hours. Note: A grade of C or higher must be maintained in all prerequisites, program courses, and required science courses. (Offered spring only.)
