TED-2801 Instruction of Reading

3 Credits
Focuses on the teaching of reading from pre-kindergarten through 8th grade. Students will develop and use a variety of developmentally appropriate word recognition and reading comprehension strategies. Students also will examine a balanced literacy program which fosters phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. This course is intended for those persons who have a bachelor’s degree and are seeking initial teacher certification and for teachers seeking recertification.
Prerequisite(s): Departmental permission required.
All TED courses must be passed with a grade of C or higher.
