TED-2821 Teaching Reading in the Content Areas: Part II

Expands upon Part I, focusing on types of reading, skills in reading and instruction. The emphasis is on teaching secondary students to learn from text. Participants will formulate research questions, complete a literature review and implement and evaluate a coherent literacy plan. Participants also will implement reading and writing strategies that promote understanding of subject area content. This course is intended for those persons who have a bachelor’s degree and are seeking initial teacher certification and for teachers seeking recertification.
Prerequisite(s): Departmental permission required.
All TED courses must be passed with a grade of C or higher.
