MUS-1450 Recording Technology II Credits 3 This course continues taking the student through microphone design and placement techniques, consoles and stereo recording principles, signal flow, gain staging, patchbays, multitrack recording, outboard gear, monitoring, mixing, along with studio safety procedures and practices. Students will also conduct hands-on recording sessions of various different musical instruments, ensembles and genres. Prerequisite(s): Prerequisites: MUS-1420 , and MUS-1440 with a gade of “C” or higher. Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate a hands on working knowledge of microphones
- Demonstrate a hands on working knowledge of recording studio hardware, software, and proper procedures
- Make a recording utilizing the music department recording studio
- Discuss topics using vocabulary and concepts from the audio recording field
- Judge the relevance of the application of specific technologies to audio recording and presentation
- Practice proper studio and control room safety procedures.
- Record and edit music on a Digital Audio Workstation
