An examination of the increasing role private security plays in crime prevention, detection, and investigation. Emphasis is on physical and procedural operations.

Prerequisite(s): EGL-1010S  for students not eligible for EGL-1010. No prerequisite or corequisite for students eligible for EGL-1010.

Course Outcomes
 

  1. Describe the proper procedures for securing crime scenes and conducting an investigation.
  2. Identify the legal aspects of security and asset protection.
  3. Discuss the importance of public relations, ethics and professionalism.
  4. Evaluate the role of the security officer in the workplace.
