INT-1550 Introduction to Networks- Network Plus Prep

This course is designed to introduce students to network concepts needed for entrance into networking and computer-related careers. Skill-based labs prepare students to manage and monitor network devices. Cloud technologies, virtualization, security, network standards and protocols are also covered. This course prepares students for the CompTIA Network+ N10-008 certification exam. This credit course may also be taken as a continuing education course TEC-605 CompTIA Network+ Certification Preparation.

Prerequisite(s): INT-1010 or permission of the department chair.

Course Outcomes

Differentiate between wired and wireless networking technologies.
Identify components of a LAN to include cabling, network devices and subnets.
Implement appropriate processes and documentation for network operations.
Select the appropriate network ports, protocols and standards.
Apply the appropriate monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Identify best practices in securing networks.
Evaluate cloud, datacenter and virtual networking implementations.
Configure and troubleshoot network devices and services.
