INT-1550 Introduction to Networks- Network Plus Prep
Credits: 3 This course is designed to introduce students to network concepts needed for entrance into networking and computer-related careers. Skill-based labs prepare students to manage and monitor network devices. Cloud technologies, virtualization, security, network standards and protocols are also covered. This course prepares students for the CompTIA Network+ N10-008 certification exam. This credit course may also be taken as a continuing education course TEC-605 CompTIA Network+ Certification Preparation.
Prerequisite(s): INT-1010 or permission of the department chair.
Course Outcomes
- Differentiate between wired and wireless networking technologies.
- Identify components of a LAN to include cabling, network devices and subnets.
- Implement appropriate processes and documentation for network operations.
- Select the appropriate network ports, protocols and standards.
- Apply the appropriate monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
- Identify best practices in securing networks.
- Evaluate cloud, datacenter and virtual networking implementations.
- Configure and troubleshoot network devices and services.
