INT-2540 Computer Software: A+ Preparation



Credits: 4
This course develops entry level skills required to be an IT specialist. Students install and configure Window’s operating systems. The course addresses security tools, basic networking, operating system tools, utilities, security threats, wireless networking, software troubleshooting, scripting and automation. Students will have to study beyond this course to adequately prepare for the A+ Core 2 certification. This credit course may also be taken as a continuing education course TEC-483 CompTIA A+ Certfication Preparation Part 2.

Prerequisite(s): INT-1010 

Course Outcomes
  1. Compare various features and requirements of Microsoft Operating Systems, Mac OS and Linux.
  2. Install and configure Windows PC operating systems.
  3. Analyze Windows networking operating system components as they relate to client/desktop workstations.
  4. Troubleshoot software applications.
  5. Compare and contrast best practices for change management, documentation and disaster recovery.
  6. Identify basic mobile, wireless, and network devices.
  7. Evaluate common security threats and vulnerabilities.
  8. Evaluate security best practices.
  9. Evaluate scripting languages and remote access technologies.
