ART-1620 Digital Publication Design

Designed to acquaint the student with the fundamentals of publication and print media design. Hands-on training will be provided using a variety of digital media and hardware current to the graphic design profession. Students will gain experience in taking a print media project from concept to page layout and production.
Prerequisite(s): ART-1570
6 studio hours.
Course Outcomes
  1. Identify principles of professional publication design and creative typography.
  2. Demonstrate a working vocabulary of visual communication concepts, applied art history, and digital media terms.
  3. Compose publications for print and electronic delivery that employ visual hierarchy, creative typography, and effective layout principles.
  4. Use essential software, hardware, and correct file management to complete work.
  5. Assemble an entry-level portfolio of publications.
