BUS-2220 Business Law I

An survey of the principles and theory of American law, as applied in the business environment. Covers sources of law, courts and alternative dispute resolution systems, tort law, business crimes and business ethics, contract law, and other related topics.
Prerequisite(s): Reading Readiness 
Formerly (Formerly BUS-1220 . Students may not receive credit for both BUS-1220 and BUS-2220.)
Course Outcomes
 

  1. Identify the sources of American law and how conflicts in the law are resolved.
  2. Describe the components of the American court system, and the federal or state courts that handle specific business matters.
  3. Identify major legal issues in the areas of Constitutional law, litigation and alternative dispute resolution, business crimes and business ethics, torts, and contracts, as those issues are presented in the business environment.
  4. Apply relevant principles of law to problems and case studies.
