ESL-0201 English as a Second Language: Composition

For nonnative speakers who have a good command of English. Focus on paragraph-length compositions and complex grammar and sentence structures.  
Prerequisite(s): ESL-0102 with a grade of C or higher, or placement by exam.
Formerly ESL-2010 and ESL-201.
Course Outcomes
  1. Use the writing process to produce paragraphs of appropriate length that demonstrate unity of ideas on academic topics.
  2. Respond to prompts using appropriate rhetorical patterns with appropriate signal vocabulary.
  3. Write simple, compound, complex, and compound/complex sentences.
  4. Write or type paragraphs using standard format and mechanics.
  5. Edit paragraphs for grammatical and mechanical errors.
