MUS-1250 Sight Singing and Ear Training Credits 1 Equivalent Hours 1 The study of aural skills, including sight singing of standard music scores with solfeggio, and dictation of harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic materials.
Prerequisite(s): Placement exam. 2 lab hours. Course Outcomes
- Identify the principles of musical composition, including meter, key, and texture, through listening and score reading.
- Sing at sight melodies of intermediate difficulty, with solfeggio.
- Sing simple intervals, major and three forms of minor scales with solfeggio.
- Aurally identify and notate simple intervals; major and three forms of minor scales; melodic phrases; harmonic progressions; and rhythmic patterns.
