NUR-2040 Management of Care and Professional Issues


Credits 3
The focus of this course will be on providing integrated, cost effective care to clients through coordination, supervision and collaboration with other members of the healthcare team. Students will analyze, synthesize and evaluate care for groups of clients in a variety of healthcare settings. Professional practice issues will be applied to healthcare situations and NCLEX-RN readiness, the role of the nurse and transition into the workforce.
Prerequisite(s): NUR-2010 , NUR-2020 .
Corequisite(s): NUR-2031 and NUR-2032
Course Outcomes
 

  1. Examine nursing activities within an environment that reflects ethical and legal standards of practice. 
  2. Evaluate the impact of nursing theory on the profession of nursing and on nursing research.  
  3. Apply leadership and management theory concepts to nursing practice. 
  4. Evaluate principles of delegation and supervision in professional nursing practice to ensure safe client care. 
  5. Design strategies to ease the transition from student nurse to professional nurse
  6. Evaluate uses, limitations, benefits, and precautions associated with complementary and alternative therapies and supplements.
