PMD-1010 Advanced Airway Management Credits 3 Provides knowledge and skills essential to advanced life support care of patients with respiratory emergencies. Advanced techniques of airway management will be covered. College laboratory, computer-assisted education, and cadaver experience will be used extensively. Prerequisite(s): Program admission Corequisite(s): PMD-1000, PMD-1020, and PMD-1050 2 class/3 lab hours. Course Outcomes
- Identify the primary objectives of airway maintenance for a patient, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
- Identify the anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the respiratory system, including that relevant to the landmarks for advanced airway placement, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
- Identify elements indicative of the effectiveness of the airway and breathing, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
- Identify the indications, contraindications, and techniques for accurate delivery of supplemental oxygen, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
