PMD-2200 Paramedic Summative Clinical

Practice of comprehensive patient assessment, intervention, and patient management in specialty facilities, advanced life support units, and in the hospital setting.
Prerequisite(s): PMD-1030, PMD-2010, PMD-2030, and PMD-1100
Corequisite(s): PMD-2020 and PMD-2040.
16 clinical hours.
Course Outcomes
  1. Perform methods of assessment and management of a medical or “special populations” patient (e.g., trauma, geriatric, obstetric/gynecologic, pediatric, environmental emergency, chronic care, psychiatric), including identification and significance of pathophysiological assessment findings, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
  2. Perform safe and accurate assessment and management of a medical or “special populations” emergency patient, (e.g., trauma, geriatric, obstetric/gynecologic, pediatric, environmental emergency, chronic care, psychiatric), including advanced airway placement and management; establishment of vascular access; medication administration; and, operation of current standard patient monitoring devices, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
  3. Identify indications, contraindications, side effects, and responses associated with the application of patient care processes for a medical or “special populations” patient (e.g., trauma, geriatric, obstetric/gynecologic, pediatric, environmental emergency, chronic care, psychiatric), including advanced airway placement and management; establishment of vascular access; medication administration; and, operation of current standard patient monitoring devices, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards.
  4. Perform documentation of patient assessment and management, as it relates to the application of clinical skills, including the associated data entry.
  5. Perform dissemination of patient information in verbal form, either in person or through radio/phone communication, as prescribed in the current paramedic national education standards
