PED-1030 Wellness Through Fitness and Sport Skills

In this course students explore how wellness impacts health. Students examine various fitness guidelines according to national standards. Activities include aerobic workouts, swimming, weight training, tennis, and/or combination activities. Students apply various rules and techniques as well as safety guidelines to minimize injuries. Additionally, students learn to assess their personal fitness and /or sport skill level and how to establish goals for improvement.
Course Outcomes
 

  1. Examine concepts of wellness and exercise guidelines.
  2. Perform multiple fitness and/or sports skills.
  3. Apply various rules, strategies, principles and safety issues to fitness and/or sports skills.
  4. Assess personal fitness and/or sport skill levels.
  5. Establish goals for improvement in fitness level and/or sport skills.
