RAD-2410 Radiographic Procedures III Credits 3 Emphasis on radiographic procedures of the cranium, computed tomography, cross-sectional anatomy, and special contrast procedures. Includes consideration of mobile, surgical, pediatric and geriatric patients, incorporating related pathology. Expanded study of pediatric, trauma and mobile and surgical radiography from previous semesters. This course expands upon course content of RAD-1420, to include application of radiation protection, equipment operation and quality control, image production and evaluation, and patient care and education. Prerequisite(s): RAD-1420, RAD-1550 2 lecture/3 lab hours. Course Outcomes
- Correctly position patient for all views of cranium (skull, facial bones & paranasal sinuses)
- Identify the specific equipment, diagnostic exams and clinical applications for radiographic studies of the urinary, biliary, central nervous and cardiovascular systems
- Select positioning and exposure factor modifications for pediatric, trauma and surgical patients
- Critique radiographic image quality to include corrective actions
- Interpret anatomical structures on cross-sectional images
- Analyze the results of basic quality control tests
