RAD-2960 Computed Tomography Credits 3 Advanced modality course providing students with knowledge in patient care, radiation safety and dosimetry, general and special imaging procedures, physics and instrumentation, and quality assurance as they prepare for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification exam in Computed Tomography. Prerequisite(s): Permission of Radiography Program Director Course Outcomes
- Select patient assessment, preparation, and management techniques necessary for CT imaging studies and contrast administration.
- Relate selection of technical factors to patient dose.
- Identify, via sectional anatomy, major structures of the head, neck, spine, and body.
- List imaging protocols used in routine and minimally invasive CT procedures.
- Associate components on the CT console with their function in a CT procedure.
- Outline the steps in CT image processing and reconstruction.
- Outline the steps in CT image acquisition, display, and storage.
- Identify recommended equipment quality control tests and appropriate scheduling.
- List causes of CT image artifacts and solutions for correction.
