RST-1631 Clinical Practice in Respiratory Therapy I Credits 2 First clinical practicum with emphasis on applying cardiopulmonary physiology and principles of diseases for the assessment, evaluation, and delivery of respiratory therapy procedures in general respiratory care. Prerequisite(s): RST-1531 and RST-1570 with grade of C or higher Corequisite(s): RST-1600, RST-1741 8 clinical hours. Course Outcomes
- Perform bedside respiratory assessment of the patient in the general care setting with assistance from the clinical instructor.
- Analyze the laboratory data pertinent to the respiratory system.
- Identify the elements of a treatment plan for respiratory care with assistance from the clinical instructor.
- Perform respiratory therapy procedures utilized in the general care with assistance from the clinical instructor.
- Set up respiratory therapy equipment utilized in the general care with assistance from the clinical instructor.
- Demonstrate professional affective skills (organization, communication, time management, accurate documentation) in the general care clinical setting.
