RST-2500 Pharmacology for Respiratory Therapy Credits 3 Describes classification of drugs as they relate to all organ systems with pertinent review of anatomy and physiology. Included are concepts of pharmacology of analgesics, cardiovascular drugs, anesthetics, and all drugs utilized in the practice of respiratory therapy. Includes EKG interpretation and ACLS preparation. Prerequisite(s): RST-1730 completion with grade of C or higher Corequisite(s): RST-2530, RST-2490 Course Outcomes
- Identify drug absorption routes and the physiological basis of drug action.
- Calculate drug dosages.
- List indications and complications ofpharmacologic agents.
- Interpret EKG rhythms.
- Choose pharmacologic agents used for treatment of dysrhythmias according to ACLS guidelines.
- Differentiate between pharmacologic agents used in the management of neurologic, respiratory cardiac, renal, and immune systems.
- Apply the concepts of mechanical ventilation with the use of pharmacologic agents.
