SLN-2010 Service-Learning Internship I

Credits 1
In this course, students complete an introductory service experience in an entry-level position or a service project within an organizational setting under supervision. Students establish essential performance and service-learning goals and apply course content in a practical setting to achieve course goals. Additionally, students reflect on their service experience, civic responsibility and enhance their professional skills in the workplace. Internships are non-paid (with a minimum of 32 on-site hours), per service agreement. Internship sites are either selected from placements offered by the Service-Learning Office or proposed by the student. NOTE: All placements must be approved by the Service-Learning Director prior to course registration.

Students must have met the minimum reading requirement of the college and meet the Service-Learning Program’s requirement for internship eligibility and GPA.
Note: The Service-Learning Program encourages the development of civic responsibility through students’ participation in service projects within the community which support their academic objectives. Service-Learning at Prince George’s Community College is an academic component that can be integrated within the coursework of most disciplines and also is available as a separate independent credit course.
