SLN-2030 Service-Learning Internship III

Credits 3
In this course, students complete a comprehensive practical experience at an entry-level position or service project under supervision. Students establish various performance and service-learning goals and apply course content in a practical setting to achieve these goals. Additionally, students enhance their professional skills in the workplace. Students create a professional portfolio to document their service-learning internship and/or academic experience. Internships are nonpaid (with a minimum of 96 on-site hours). Internship sites are either selected from placements offered by the Service-Learning Office or proposed by the student. All placements must be approved by the Service-Learning Director prior to course registration.

Students must have met the minimum reading requirement of the college and meet the Service-Learning Program’s requirement for internship eligibility and GPA.
Note: The Service-Learning Program encourages the development of civic responsibility through students’ participation in service projects within the community which support their academic objectives. Service-Learning at Prince George’s Community College is an academic component that can be integrated within the coursework of most disciplines and also is available as a separate independent credit course.
