TED-1110 Professional Dispositions and Behaviors for Educational Settings Credits 2 This course focuses on professional dispositions and behaviors required to be successful in the field of early childhood education. Students will be introduced to the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) code of ethics, the Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (InTASC) standards for professionalism, and other needed professional behaviors. Students will be required to demonstrate these behaviors in simulated and real-life situations. Additionally, students will complete observations in instructor-selected Early Childhood Centers. Prerequisite(s): TED 1100 completed or concurrent Course Outcomes
- Identify professional dispositions from current professional standards.
- List effective verbal communication strategies for interacting with colleagues, families and children in one-on-one and group settings.
- Identify professional behaviors of others in videos and/or written scenarios, including appropriate responses to each scenario.
- Model each disposition in a variety of classroom simulation scenarios.
- Reflect upon past and current experiences and their own dispositions, including changes for future situations.
