DLS-0061 Fundamental Mathematics with PreAlgebra

Preparation for MAT-0071  or MAT-0092 . This course provides the student with a review of basic mathematic concepts, algebra operations, solving linear equations and applications using whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals and percent, including number properties. This course includes one scheduled lab hour per week with a tutor. Four equivalent hours (EHs) are awarded for successful completion.     
Prerequisite(s): Reading Readiness  or co-enrollment in reading course.
4 class/1 lab hour per week.
Course Outcomes
  1. Perform operations on integers and/or decimals.
  2. Perform operations on fractions and mixed numbers.
  3. Use the order of operations to simplify and/or evaluate algebraic and numerical expressions involving parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, or subtraction.  
  4. Simplify algebraic expressions and solve general linear equations, including proportions. 
  5. Solve non-geometric applications. 
  6. Solve geometric applications.
