PHY-1040 General Physics I Laboratory

Credits 1
This physics laboratory course introduces a number of modern and classical analytical methods including instrumentation and the computer. Measurement and its error are examined in detail due to the analytical approach taken in the course.  Experiments expand topics covered in PHY-1030. General education science course.
Prerequisite(s): MAT-2410; MAT-2420 completed or concurrent enrollment; PHY-1030 completed or concurrent
Corequisite(s): MAT-2420 completed or concurrent enrollment; PHY-1030 completed or concurrent
Course Outcomes
1. Perform experiments to explore a variety of physical phenomena in classical mechanics, using traditional tools as well as modern technology. 2. Analyze scientific data gathered in multiple measurements, including quantifying measurement error with statistical techniques. 3. Write a lab report in proper scientific format that addresses measurements with appropriate precision and accuracy and any discrepancy between experimental and expected lab results
