Continuation of MUS-2150 . In this course, students will continue with their studies of four-part choral writing including augmented-six chords, foreign modulation, and extended chords, Neapolitan chords, the twentieth-century techniques, musical analysis modes, non-diatonic scales (pentatonic, octatonic, and whole tone), and serial tone rows.
Prerequisite(s): MUS-2150 with a grade of C or higher

Course Outcomes

Compose short examples using various 20th-century techniques, including serial, modal, and aleatory.
Identify aurally and notate melodies, chords, and harmonic progressions with modulations.
Sing tonal and atonal melodies with solfeggio and numbers.
Play appropriate harmony to harmonize with the given melodies at the keyboard.
