ART-1010 Introduction to Art Credits 3 Introduces students to the visual arts. Through lecture, demonstration, and hands-on activities, students develop an appreciation for art and an understanding of the elements of art and principles of design, artistic styles, specific art techniques, and major historical movements in art. Artistic ability or experience is not required. Honors version available. Prerequisite(s): Reading proficiency. Course Outcomes
- Utilize art terminology including the elements of art, the principles of design, artistic styles, specific techniques, major artistic periods and major artistic movements in verbal and/or written formats.
- Analyze a work of his/her own creation using the elements of art and the principles of design.
- Analyze a masterwork of visual art in terms of subject matter, media, historical context, the elements of art, the principles of design, and pictorial content.
