ART-1570 Introduction to Computer Graphics

Designed to provide a survey of the role of the computer in visual communication design. Students will receive basic training on the primary types of software and peripherals with which designers must be familiar. This includes painting-type (raster) software as well as structured graphics (vector) applications. Students will be encouraged to develop creative approaches to projects coupled with increased technical proficiency.
6 studio hours.
Note: This is a gateway course for the Digital Art Concentration.
Course Outcomes
  1. Identify computer graphics terms and trade jargon.
  2. Analyze work focusing on the principles of design.
  3. Utilize peripherals and file management methodologies.
  4. Apply tools and techniques in raster, vector, and page-layout software.
  5. Create original projects with raster, vector, and page-layout software.
