CSM-1830 Construction Blueprint Reading Credits 3 Covers reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications of residential and light commercial buildings. Emphasis is on the architectural, mechanical, and site aspects of working drawings. (Not offered summer.)
Course Outcomes
- Use drawing symbols and notations to identify the building materials or components they represent – structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and finishes.
- Use drawing scale information and an architect’s or engineer’s scale to determine building dimensions.
- Apply the principles of orthographic projection to drawing 2-D and 3-D views of objects and buildings.
- Use information on drawings to calculate quantities (areas and volumes) of construction materials.
- Identify utility services, topographical lines, parking, curb and gutter locations, building grades and elevations, and landscape features on a given site plan.
- Determine dimensional information from drawings; including but not limited to buildings, rooms, windows, and doors.
