CSM-2410 Communication and Computers in Construction Credits 3 This course combines the everyday communications that are a vital part of the construction process with the use of computers as their main tool. The communication side covers the four main avenues (speaking, listening, reading, and writing) with clarity and focus. The computer side covers spreadsheets, word processing, scheduling, and money control. (Offered fall only.)
Course Outcomes
- Create an administrative base for all construction communications – written correspondence, RFI’s, submittals, change orders, invoices, cost reports, etc.
- Demonstrate the creation and use of an effective system for tracking money flow – system records, invoices, requisitions, cost reports, etc.
- Conduct meetings with an accurate record of the meetings.
- Communicate clearly and succinctly in oral form.
- Communicate clearly and succinctly in written form.
- Use computer software for correspondence, spreadsheets, financial records, and time schedules.
