CJT-1510 Introduction to Criminal Justice Credits 3 A survey of the history, philosophy and social development of police, courts and corrections in a democratic society. Identification and operations of local, state and federal agencies will be covered with criminal justice career orientation. Prerequisite(s): Reading proficiency. Course Outcomes
- Describe the purpose and function of the three main components of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, courts and corrections.
- Discuss the historical development of policing and criminal law in the United States.
- Identify the potential causes and the ways of measuring crime.
- Explain the steps of the criminal justice process, from entry through release.
