EGL-0100P ALP English


Equivalent Hours 3
This course is designed for students who have a foundation in basic reading and writing skills but need further practice in sentence-level writing, paragraph development, essay writing, and critical reading as they undertake EGL-1010 . EGL-0100P meets three hours a week. Students enrolled in EGL-0100P must be concurrently enrolled in EGL-1010P . EGL-0100P will not fulfill the EGL requirements for graduation and transfer.
Prerequisite(s): To be eligible for ALP, students must earn a combined score of 148-168 on the Accuplacer test. ALP eligibility may also be determined by a C in EGL-0080  or EGL-0090 .
Corequisite(s): Students enrolled in EGL-0100P must be concurrently enrolled in EGL-1010P.

  2. Construct unified, coherent, and well-developed paragraphs.
  3. Formulate a restricted, unified, and precise thesis statement.

  5. Use proper grammar and follow usage rules.
  6. Develop clear, concise sentences.
  7. Summarize the author’s argument.
