EGL-2090 World Literature from the Beginnings to the 16th Century

An introduction to world literature from the beginnings through the 16th century, including literary works from non-western and western cultures.    
Prerequisite(s): EGL-1020 , EGL-1100 , EGL-1320 , or EGL-1340 .
(Not offered summer.)

Course Outcomes
  1. Identify authors, works, and genres of world literature extending from the beginnings through the sixteenth century.
  2. Explain literary motifs and devices in the varying forms of world literature.  
  3. Analyze major works in world literature using biographical, cultural, and/or sociopolitical contexts.
  4. Using correct documentation, write an analytical essay on a significant subject/topic in world literature.
