EGL-2140 African-American Literature 1920-Present Credits 3 A survey of African-American literature from the early 1900s to the present. Prerequisite(s): EGL-1020 , EGL-1100 , EGL-1320 , or EGL-1340 . (Not offered summer.)
Course Outcomes
- Construct and interpret the relationship between 20th century African-American writers and 18th and 19th century writers.
- Explain how the social and intellectual climate has influenced the themes of recent African-American literature.
- Apply literary and critical terminology and concepts, demonstrating their use in understanding and appreciating African-American literature.
- Write analysis-driven essays that critique varied texts, and a research-style paper that utilizes additional documented sources.
