ESL-0100 English as a Second Language: Elementary II Credits 0 Equivalent Hours 4 For nonnative speakers whose English writing and speaking skills are limited. Practice in basic American English grammar, pronunciation, and writing. Prerequisite(s): Placement by exam. Formerly ESL-1000 and ESL-100. Course Outcomes
- Produce statements, negative statements, yes/no questions, and Wh- questions in the simple present, present progressive, simple past, and simple future tenses.
- Produce sentences using the correct forms of adverbs and adjectives, including comparative and superlative forms of adjectives.
- Identify count and non-count nouns and quantifiers.
- Identify and use basic modal verbs.
- Write multiple sentences in response to a single prompt using the course target grammar.
- Edit sentence level errors in target grammar and mechanics.
