ESL-0100 English as a Second Language: Elementary II

For nonnative speakers whose English writing and speaking skills are limited. Practice in basic American English grammar, pronunciation, and writing.
Prerequisite(s): Placement by exam.
Formerly ESL-1000 and ESL-100.
Course Outcomes
  1. Produce statements, negative statements, yes/no questions, and Wh- questions in the simple present, present progressive, simple past, and simple future tenses.
  2. Produce sentences using the correct forms of adverbs and adjectives, including comparative and superlative forms of adjectives.
  3. Identify count and non-count nouns and quantifiers.
  4. Identify and use basic modal verbs.
  5. Write multiple sentences in response to a single prompt using the course target grammar.
  6. Edit sentence level errors in target grammar and mechanics.
